Butterfly MkII

Today I'm playing along with CASE Study, where the inspiration is provided by this card from Kathy Racoosin:

It was also going to be my entry for One Layer Wednesday, hosted by Heather, where the subject was anything with wings.  If the weather had been like yesterday, it would probably have made it into the gallery.  But today we got the weather that had been promised yesterday, so on a whim we went to the beach where we had gone on our first daytime date, coincidentally pretty much forty years ago to the day.  There's a red squirrel sanctuary on the footpath to the beach (our native red squirrels have been endangered for years by the grey squirrels introduced from over the pond, but apparently they're fighting back now and numbers are increasing).

Someone had drawn a heart in the sand

which we hijacked

in case you can't make it out - David/Shirley 1973
then he just couldn't help himself - there was another heart with the word "love" written under it, so he had to finish it off:

It's also seven years to the day since No.1 son left with his two friends for Australia, for their "year out".  The two others returned within the year, but he's still enjoying life to the full out there.

Happy Days.

I'll be back in no time with another card for a challenge that is nearing its deadline.  See you soon.

  4. This is sooooo beautiful and more beautiful is the way you guys hijacked the hearts, so very sweet :)

  5. What a romantic hubby you have!!! Such a sweet story...what were the chances that you would find those hearts drawn in the sand? It was meant to be!!! You kids seem just as much in love today as you were a "few years back".

Absolutely stunning card Shirley! I love the die cut design that you used...creates such beautiful movement...just like a butterfly in flight!

  6. Love the shape of your card Shirley. Great technique with the stamped bands at both bottom and top. Loll xx
