Visible Image - New Dies

Hello!  Visible Image have just released new dies to go with some existing stamp sets, and for the next few weeks you can get 20% off by using the code DIES20.  So if you've already got the stamp set, why not add the dies, makes life so much easier.  And if you haven't got the stamps, you can buy the stamp and die bundle with 20% off by using the code.

So I thought I'd use one of the new dies for my DT post today.

You get two dies to match the Santa image stamps in the Vintage Santa set - beats fussy cutting round that beard ;)

I stamped my images in Ink On 3 FadeOut ink.  To be honest, I wasn't sure how it would work with this design, but I had to give it a go, and I think it looks great!

I used Distress Inks to watercolour the image - Lost Shadow for the beard, Weathered Wood for the hat trim and pompom, and Lumberjack Plaid for the hat, then cut him out with the die.

Then I started on the background with Distress Oxides.

Added some Distress Mica Spray - the Empty Tombstone was unopened, and despite giving it several (a couple) minutes vigorous shaking, it blobbed out.  but I'm fine with it, it's grunge.

It dried to a lovely sheen.

Before stamping the sentiment I rubbed the panel with Distress Glaze to seal the oxides.

I love how the mica catches the light!

I added a few snowflakes with a white Posca pen to finish off the card.

Pop on over to the Visible Image store to see what dies are available now for existing sets.  They make crafting so much easier!

Seize The Birthday - Make It Musical

Hello!  We've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday, chosen this week by Jules, and it's Make It Musical.

Or you could play along with our Anything Goes theme, as long as it's a birthday project.

I used the Rock Out stamps set from Visible Image and a stencil from The Crafters Workshop.  The birthday sentiment is from a set by Hobby Art called Get Your Goat.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog to see how the rest of the team and our surprise party guests have interpreted this theme, and join us with your creation.

Visible Image - Celebrate!

Woohoo, I've joined the Visible Image Design Team!  So for my first make, what better card to make than a celebration card?

I started off by sponging the lower portion of my panel with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink, then stencilled some Vintage Photo through the Drizzle stencil (not just for cake!).

I stamped the gin bottle, glass and lime wedge from the Keep Your Gin Up stamp set, diecut them using the coordinating dies, and arranged them on my panel along with the Celebrate stamp from Birthday Wishes for placement.

I stamped Celebrate in a nice bold black.

I added a splash of colour to the bottle and the two lime wedges.

Then it was a case of deciding which base card to go with - blue to pick out the colour in the bottle, or lime to pick out the, erm, limes.

I went with lime, because it's a summery colour, and it's supposed to be summer here!

Here are the products I used.  You can click on the individual links below, or you can click here for all the goodness of the main site.

I'll be back in a couple of weeks with another Visible Image creation.  Meanwhile, happy stamping!

Seize The birthday - Make A Shaped Card

Hello, we've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday, chosen by JoAnn, who wants us to make a shaped card - any shape except the standard US A2 (or the equivalent UK A6 for me).

I went with a DL slimline card, which worked perfectly with this stamp set that has been in my stash for ages.  I picked up some spritzed Distress Inks from an acrylic block onto my panel, and it looked sufficiently like grass, flowers and trees to not need anything more doing to it.  I stamped the sausage dog (Woodware), coloured and fussy cut it and adhered it the panel then mounted the whole thing onto the folded card base.  The sentiment is from the same set.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more fabulously shaped cards from the rest of the design team and from our surprise party guests, and join in the fun.  If you don't want to make a shaped card, you can still play along with a regular sized card in our Anything Goes category.
