Seize The Birthday - Milestone

Hello!  We've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday today - Milestone, hosted by Jenny.

I'm telling myself that 70 is the new 60 ;)

I used this fab stamp and coordinating die set from Concord & 9th called Happy Headlines, and once I'd set the main stamp up on my MISTI, I stamped a few out so that I've got them ready to customise.  The numbers on this card are Memory Box Parker dies.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the rest of the design team and from our Surpise Party Guests, and join in the fun.  If you don't want to make a milestone birthday card, you can always play along with our Anything Goes theme.

Happy stamping!

Visible Image - Hearts and Flowers

Hi guys, this week's theme at Visible Image is Hearts and Flowers, so of course I'm using one of the new flower sets, Beautiful Life, along with the Mesh Heart stencil for my CAS card.

I started by taping off the edges of my tent-fold card, then blended Distress Inks all over, starting with Worn Lipstick, Scattered Straw then Shabby Shutters.

While the card was still taped down, I taped the Mesh Heart stencil on top then sponged with Abandoned Coral.

Once I removed the tape I had a clean white border around the card.

Then I stamped the flower image from Beautiful Life in Versafine Onyx Black, straight onto the card.  At that point it was a one-layer CAS card but then I decided to add some wording.

I stamped the words onto white card, sliced them up and added them strategically onto the card.

The right words, but not necessarily in the right order :)

They add a little more interest to the card whilst keeping it CAS.

The Beautiful Life stamp set, along with the rest of the new release, can be found online at Visible Image.  They're so versatile, with that touch of grunge that Mark's designs are noted for - why not treat yourself?

Seize The Birthday - Anything That Flies

Hi peeps, a new challenge is underway at Seize The Birthday, and Linda has chosen the theme - Anything That Flies.

I used a new-to-me stamp called Bundle Girl With Butterflies, from Stampingbella, and cut the lower edge with Die-namics Stitch, Scallop Basic Edges.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some fabulous inspiration from the design team and our surprise party guests, and play along with us.  If you're not into things that fly, you can always play along with our Anything Goes theme, as long as it's birthday-related.

Visible Image - Spring

Hello!  Our theme at Visible Image this week is Spring, and Mark's new release of stamps and stencils fits the bill perfectly.  I've used the Beautiful Life and Blocked Up stamp sets and the Windows stencil for my card.

I wanted the sentiment to sit in a box across the flower, and for the swashes (technical term - the tails on the word 'create') to flow out of the box.  I also wanted to do it without adding a layer, so I stamped a lined rectangle from the Blocked Up set, and stamped my sentiment to sit in the rectangle, then cut a mask for the box so that I could stamp, sponge and stencil over it.

You can just see the sentiment through the mask.  With the sentiment protected, I could now create the rest of the card.

I started off by adding Distress Stains to the flower stamp - Mustard Seed and Wild Honey for the petals, and Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint for the leaves and stem.  I used a stamping platform so that I could re-ink if necessary.

I overstamped in a few places with the grunge geometric stamp and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink.

I sponged the background in places with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink.  Using the Windows stencil I then lifted some of the colour with a damp baby wipe.  On other parts of the card I stencilled more Evergreen Bough, turning the stencil 180 degrees in some parts.  I also stamped the grungy circle in Peeled Paint and Evergreen Bough.

Once I removed the mask, it revealed a smooth white sentiment panel that sits visually in front of the flower and stamping detail.

Before mounting the panel onto gold and black card, I stamped and embossed the splodge stamp in the top corner using Salvaged Patina Dsitress Glaze.  I also added some background stamping to the card base.

Distress Stains are great for adding deep colour to solid areas of stamps.

For a finishing touch I added Diamond Stickles to the centre of the flower.

Pop on over to the Visible Image website for all of the new release, and treat yourself!
