Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

Hello, and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday.  This time it's Anything Goes, so as long as it's on a birthday theme, you're in!

I've used a Woodware stamp set.  The vase, flowers and snail are all one image, and the border is a separate image.  I used foils to add highlighting on the snail, the flowers and the vase (although that doesn't show up in the photo), and added some splatters.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the team, and play along with us.

I'm joining in at Simon Says Monday Challenge, Sprinkles and Splatters.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #182

It's Inspiration Tuesday at STAMPlorations, and this week we've got something a bit different for you.  At Cornelia's suggestion we're all doing Artist Trading Coins, which are all the rage at the moment.  I'm not sure how long they've been around, but there's plenty of inspiration on the interwebs - try Pinterest or just google it.

The only requirement is that the base is a 2.5" circle.  They are quite often made as sets of three or four, in the way that artist trading cards are.  It's a brilliant way to use up all your scraps - just rummage through your bits and bobs and you'll have plenty of material.  Having said that, you don't need to add embellishments, you could just stamp and colour them as a single layer.

I had these Trendy Birds lying around so I stamped some grunge onto my sponged coins, and added some sentiments and the birds.  Easy peasy.

Pop on over to the STAMPlorations blog to sesame more fabulous samples of Artist Trading Coins, and don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win a gift certificate to the store.

Every Tuesday through to September all stamps, stencils and dies are 15% off (no coupon needed) and if you use my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY you'll get an extra 20% off.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #181

It's Inspiration day over at STAMPlorations, and today I'm using a diecut butterfly (Flutter Zen 1) that I found in my stash, a leftover from an earlier project.  The background is also from my stash, when I had a little smooshy session (always make more than you need at the time, they come in really handy).

The sentiment is from Happy Birthday.

Succulents and Stripes

Didn't get to post this on my blog on Wednesday due to an ongoing family emergency, but here it is now.  Full details of how I made it on the STAMPlorations blog.

Still in love with the stripes ;)

Seize The Birthday - Water

Welcome to another Seize The Birthday!  For this challenge our optional topping is Water: ocean, river, rain, water spritzing, watercolours, or water in a jar - what will your choice be?

I've used a large single image stamp from Woodware, watercoloured with Distress Inks and added a birthday sentiment from Concord & 9th.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and our surprise party guest, Trina P, and play along.  If you're not into water, you can still play along with any birthday-themed project.

STAMPlorations Summer Release - Word Dies

It's the final day of the STAMPlorations summer release, and today we're showcasing the four word dies that you can see in the logo above.  I used Fantastic yesterday and Brilliant on Wednesday, so today I'm using the remaining two, Bravo and Incredible.

Recognise those flowers?  Solid citrus images from the Layered Citrus set which launched on Monday, stamped in Distress Oxides.

The stripes are back again!  I've also used the 'you' die and a rose from yesterday's set, Brave One.

Pop on over to the STAMPlorations blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the team.  If you fancy your chances at winning this set or any of the sets we're releasing this week, all you have to do is leave a comment on every blog post throughout the week to qualify.  Commenting closes 23 July.

Seize The Birthday - Stripes

It's a new challenge at Seize The Birthday, and our optional topping is stripes.

I'm well into stripes at the moment - if you follow my blog and/or Instagram, you may have noticed ;)  I've been sloshing Distress Reinkers of various colours across card panels, not bothering if they're accurately spaced, or even straight!  (You can get away with anything in the name of art.)

The stamps are from my latest release, Layered Watermelon, which launched this week.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the team and from our Surprise Party Guest, Trina P, and play along with us.  If you're not into stripes, you can still play along with any birthday-themed project.

STAMPlorations New Release - Brave One

Hello and welcome to Day 4 of the STAMPlorations summer release!  Today we're showcasing Shery's other set, Brave One.

I love those large single blooms.  I decided to create my own background by stamping the image randomly, sloshing a bit of pink and green, then sloshing a bit of grey in the gaps.  I cut the word die, which is part of tomorrow's release, in white and black, layered them then added them across the panel.

Another wedding card, this time with a stencilled Doodled Heart on a smooshed background.  I trimmed the heart and mounted it onto white card which had been splattered with matching Distress Inks.  The sentiment is from Newlyweds.

STAMPlorations New Release - Big Dreamer

Welcome back for Day 3 of STAMPlorations Summer Release!  Today we're showcasing one of Shery's new sets, Big Dreamer.  I love those stylised flowers!

For my first card I made a Distress Oxide background inspired by Kelly Latevola, then stamped my images in black.  I added a smidgin of colour to the leaves, but left the petals as they were, and edged everything with a Tombow pen to help the images pop.  The die cut is also from the new release, and you'll be seeing more of them on Friday.

I think the sentiments on this set work perfectly for wedding cards.  I stamped the larger sentiment on a white panel, arranged all the hearts on an acrylic block and stamped those down either side, then joined them up with a black Posca pen.  A bit of sloshing and a grey shadow finish it off.

STAMPlorations New Release - Layered Citrus

Hello, how did you like Day 1 of the STAMPlorations release?  Today we're back with Day 2 and the second set in my Layered series, Layered Citrus.

Now, I've been drinking Gin & Tonic since long before it became fashionable, and I'm loving all the new brands that are popping up, and the Gin Bars :)  So when I've got spare lemons and limes I know exactly what to do with them (for info, I much prefer limes than lemons in my gin, but I'm also quite partial to blueberries with rosemary, strawberries with basil, rose petals or barberries, depending on what gin I'm having).  Anyway, enough of this talk of drink, the sun's barely over the yardarm.

So, here's what to do with your lemons - add a splash of colour.

Stripes are definitely in for me this summer.

Fruit salad, anyone?

Make your own patterns - a bit like potato printing when we were kids.

Design your own flowers.

STAMPlorations New Release - Layered Watermelon

Welcome to Day 1 of the STAMPlorations Summer Release, yay!  I've added a couple of new sets to my Layered series, and today we're showcasing the first of them, Layered Watermelon.

You've got a small slice, rind and pips, a large slice, rind and pips, and a wedge, rind and pips, together with some mix and match sentiments.  This set's turning out to be quite versatile - not only can you make fabulous watermelon cards, you can make animals and emojis with them.  Not convinced?  Take a look at my last card, and go and visit the STAMPlorations blog post for some fun interpretations.  You'll also be seeing some more fun interpretations throughout the coming weeks.

But before that, let's start with watermelons.  You can create your own decorative panel on a one layer card.

You can cheer someone up.  (My latest craze is watercoloured stripe backgrounds.)

You can suggest watermelon (got this idea from Pinterest).

You can make flowers with them.  Just let yourself loose with a black pen.

Or you can give someone a smile :)

I've had great fun with this set (could be something to do with the unseasonably hot weather we're having in the UK).  If you fancy your chances at winning this set or any of the sets we're releasing this week, all you have to do is leave a comment on every blog post throughout the week to qualify.  Commenting closes 23 July.

So get commenting and I'll see you tomorrow with my Layered Citrus set.
