3x3 Gift Card

The new challenge at Less is More is a one layer card using a coloured card blank:

This week it's everyone's favourite.. One Layer Cards and this week we would like you to use a
Coloured Card Blank
Yes that's right, none of your boring, white, ivory, black or kraft card blanks we want to see you add some colour.

This week's One Layer Wednesday, hosted by Cheryl, is to use a 3x3 inch square card.  That's tiny!  But it's a great size for a gift card.

I've used the colour scheme from this week's ColourQ:

The image stamp is a magazine freebie from Pink Petticoat, stamped in Versamark, white embossed and coloured with Tombows.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts CL646 Happy Birthday.

Movie Star

Mini canvas day today instead of a card.  (It's also a fridge magnet.)  I've used the colour scheme from Less is More's colour wheel:

It's actually yellow-green and violet-red, although in the photo it's tending more towards yellow and violet, but whatever, it's opposite.

The challenge at The Paper Players this week is Mother's Day, which has already been and gone in the UK.  However, I got my very own Mother's Day last Sunday - my boys, who live in Australia, got the date wrong so I got my gifts last weekend instead of this weekend.
Awww :)

As it's a fridge magnet, I'm entering it into the gift challenge at Moxie Fab World to celebrate the latest issue of 350 Cards & Gifts.

I stamped the complete image (Paper Artsy Mini 37 Move Star) onto tissue paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and stamped the words at the top so that they would align on the edges of the mini canvas.  I also stamped the words either side of the image.  I painted the canvas with a watered down solution of PVA, then stuck the tissue paper down onto the canvas.

Once dry, I coloured the image with Tombow markers and added some glitter, so I'm entering it into A Blog Named Hero's challenge, All That Glitters:

I added some strips of Woodware self-adhesive magnetic sheet to the back of the canvas, and Hey Presto, a fridge magnet!

Polka Dotty Washi

Very quick post, as I'm playing out tonight.  The inspiration for this card came from Pinspired:

and CAS-ual Fridays' Tic-Tac-Toe.  I've gone for the left-hand column (polka dots, square card, birthday).

And because I've used sequins, I'm also entering it into A Blog Named Hero.

Sentiment is from Paper Smooches, washi tape stamp is from Kaisercraft.

Get Well Spring Flowers

A bit of artistic licence with this card, because I don't think you'll find many blue-leafed plants IRL!  But I wanted to use these stamps from Paper Smooches for their Anything Goes challenge,

and I wanted to use this colour scheme from ColourQ's latest challenge:

The cue word at CASology is

The challenge at A Blog Named Hero is to add glitter, shimmer, shine or bling

And last but certainly not least, the challenge at One Layer Wednesday, hosted this week by Susan, is Spring is Sprung.

I added a faux-stitched frame around my flowers and sentiment by paper pricking then joining the dots with a 0.05 pigment liner.

His & Hers Day 5

So today the lesson was His & Hers anniversary cards.  For my girly card I've used CAS-ual Fridays' Tic-Tac-Toe challenge of polka dots, bling and black & white.  I made my own polka dot border on the inside of the card using a single dot stamp, repeating every half inch - there are plenty of imperfections if you look closely.  The heart is cut from glitter card, which isn't showing up very well, but at least you can see the bling from the sequins.

For the man card, I used the colour scheme from The Play Date Cafe - magenta could be too close to pink for my husband's liking, so I might have to make him a different card! But hopefully the diamond border balances it out.

His & Hers Day 3 - Sympathy Cards

Jen Rzasa demonstrated a fabulous technique in Day 3 of His & Hers Online Card Class, which I wanted to try.  Mine didn't work out like Jen's but they finished up not too bad.  This is my "His" card.

For my "Hers" card, I used the same colour scheme but with a more feminine stamp:

I've also based them loosely on this week's CAS(E) This Sketch:

ETA: I've had a couple of enquiries about the stamps used.  The scroll stamp on the male card is a Judikins Bolio, and the flower stamp on the female card is from Magenta.  With sympathy is from Clearly Besotted.

Here are a couple of photos of the mini-canvas/bookmark/card workshop I ran last week for the stamping club that I'm in, which went down pretty well with everyone:

Close-up of the canvases - I did a pink set as well.

His & Hers Day 2

I'm a day late with my homework, but I have a really good excuse, teacher, honest.  I was at college last night - the local catering college restaurant where the students were hosting a school dinners themed evening (fancy dress optional).  The food was fabulous - not a black-eyed spud or lump of gristle in sight.  School dinners have come on a long way since my day ;)

The theme for His & Hers Day 2 is birthdays.  I've used two sketches and landed somewhere in the middle.  The first one is The Paper Players:

And the second one is Fusion, where I've fused the sketch and the colour scheme from the photo:

Looking at my card, the paisley pattern is looking more and more like an octopus!

ETA:  Oops - missed the Fusion deadline!

For my male card, I took Cristina's inspiration, but instead of using vellum blocks, I painted the blocks with distress inks and a flat wash brush.

Sorry about the poor photos - I've been playing in the garden all afternoon, and by the time I'd finished making the cards, the light was fading.
