Creative Chemistry Revisited - MkII

I'm back with a another background for my Creative Chemistry homework, and I've broken out my NBUS Crazy Cats, yeah!

This background was done at the same time as yesterday's, using the same colours.  Gotta get it into the gallery quick before the deadline!

STAMPlorations Inspiration #79

Ooh, look!  Groovy Shoes are now available in larger sizes!  There are three new pairs in the store - platforms, wedges and lace-ups - and they're the perfect size for a focal image on a card.

Creative Chemistry Revisited

I'm doing my homework for the Summer of Creative Chemistry, in preparation for Tim's new class, Creative Chemistry 103.  The challenge was to use four or more Distress Inks (I think I've used about seven!), and any of the techniques from Days 1 and 2.

Don't you think my background looks like a colourful summery garden?  I do, so I'm entering it into Simon Says Monday Challenge, Summer Garden.

I'm also entering this into AAA Cards - Watercolours.

CASEplorations with Shelly Kurth

We've got a new case of CASEplorations for you, and a new regular slot.  The first of the month tends to be crowded with new challenges, so we've moved CASEplorations to the 5th of the month to spread the load.

Our muse this month is Shelly Kurth with this pretty congratulations card featuring an embroidery hoop die (also reminds made of a gold ring).  You can see her original post here.  Plenty to CASE - the gold hoop, circle background, flowers, congratulations theme, great starting point for a shaker card.

So what did I do?

I found this watercolour background in my stash, and that was my starting point for a deconstructed version.  I die-cut a circle from the watercolour background, stamped the SKETCHED: Rose on mixed media paper using Distress Inks, then dragged the colour in with a wet brush.  Before adhering the circle and rose to the card, I spattered the card with Distress Inks.  To finish off, I added the sentiment (from The Birds and The Blooms) at an angle.

Craft Stamper Take It, Make It - Take a Technique

It's time for a new challenge at Craft Stamper Take It, Make It.  This month, we want you to take a technique - Let's Get Inky!  Use more than one ink on your project (ink sprays, ink stains, ink pads, acrylic inks) OR use more than one colour of ink on your project.  Make sure you include stamping! For my card I sprayed Dylusions Dirty Martini (of course!) onto some white card, and on another piece of card I stamped the image and sentiment (Stamping Bella), then watercoloured the image with Distress Inks.  Some torn washi tape completes the card.

Seize The Birthday - Sunshine

It's time to Seize The Birthday, and for this challenge our option is Sunshine.  These girls are all ready for a birthday road trip on a sunny day!

I stamped the image (Paper Artsy) and coloured it with Distress Inks, then stencilled a sunshine and clouds using the ARTplorations Clouds stencil.  I added a sentiment (Hero Arts) and some torn washi tape, then adhered the panel to a black card base.

The Mixed Media Card Challenge - Sunset

It's a new month and a new challenge at The Mixed Media Card Challenge.  This month the theme is Sunset, and the optional element is Postage Stamp.

My background is made from encaustic wax applied with a craft iron, and the highlights were made with a white gel pen.  I stamped the cruise liner on white card, cut it out and added shading with Distress Ink.  I placed the three quotes on a long acrylic block, inked them up in similar colours to the background and stamped on spare card, then grunged the edges with scissors.

The cruise ship image reminded me of when we emigrated to Australia not long after we were married in the late 1970s, hence the Australian postage stamp on my card.  It took four and a half weeks from England to Sydney via South Africa.  We were the rump of the Ten Pound Poms (although it cost us a bit more than that), and it was the next-to-last sea voyage - flights only after that.
