STAMPlorations Spotlight

Hello!  I've got a couple of quick tricks for you today for adding colour to your images.  (Neither of these techniques is new, but it's always worth reminding ourselves and refreshing our skills.)  The first one is using the back of a stamp.

I started by stamping the same image in black across the front and back of the card.

Then I used the back of another larger stamp from the set and three different colours to colour the images. I turned the stamp each time so that the colour pattern looked more random.

I added a sentiment and called it done.

My second technique is one of my faves - sloshing watercolours around!  The card started off similar to the first.  Stamping all the way across the card, but this time using three different stamps.

Using the same range of colours, I loaded up my brushes and sloshed colour on very loosely.

You'll see from the central image on the front of the card that I was a little too enthusiastic with my flourish, but hey, this is art ;) I added a sentiment and lots of splattering and called that one done.

I hope I've jogged your memory with these techniques, or maybe even introduced you to a new one.  When you're shopping in the store, if you use my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY you can get 20% off.  Happy stamping!

STAMPlorations Inspiration #327

Hello, it's time for some STAMPlorations Inspiration.  I've got a card that came together very quickly, which was lucky as I'm on the last minute for this post!

I repeat-stamped Tea Blend Word Art on a mop-up background, and added the Coffee Cup Silhouette in a lovely pearlised gold card, and voila!

Fancy a cuppa, anyone?

Seize The Birthday - Travel

It's time for a new challenge at Seize The Birthday - Travel, chosen by Glenda.  Done much travelling lately?  Nah, me neither.

I made this card for my mum to give to our scrumptious grandson, her third great-grandchild, who lives Down Under, but he does have a connection to London as his other grandparents live there.  (His name is River, hence the name on the side of the bus.)

The vehicles and buildings are Tim Holtz, the sun is Sizzix, the cloud is a fussy-cut stamped image from Funky Fossil, the heart was in my stash so I can't remember which die set it's from, and the sentiment is Altenew Birthday Greetings.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #326

Hello peeps, got some more STAMPlorations inspiration for you today, using Deepti's Blossom Sprays #6, which was part of the the Birthday Bundle set 3.

Last time I did no line stamping and shaded colouring.  This time I'm back to my sloshy comfort zone, slapping a bit of Victorian Velvet and Peeled Paint, and adding a few splatters.  Easy peasy.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #325

Hello peeps, it's time for some more inspiration at STAMPlorations.  After my playdate with Michele when we used Layered Citrus I had these three stamp-off panels left over.

When I was cutting the Feel better soon phrase I was mindful of how the dies were placed so that I could use the negative on a future card.

And voila, a new card was born out of scraps.

Seize The Birthday - Framed

We've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday - Framed, chosen by Tae Eun.

(But you can always play along with Anything Goes as long as it's birthday-themed.)

I used a new-to-me stamp, Sunshine Happy from the Summer Fashionistas range by Sentimentally Yours, for my friend Mel's birthday card.  I sloshed some Distress Inks on it, added a sentiment from MFT and framed it with a diecut frame using Sue Wilson Decorative Squared Rectangles by Creative Expressions.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #324

Hello, it's time for some more inspiration at STAMPlorations.  I'm still playing with the stamp set and die from Birthday Bundle #3.  I took one of the card fronts from the Spring Florals packs and simply stamped the Blossom Sprays #6 on the left side, diecut a panel with Art Border #3 down the far left, then added a strip of striped card on the inside so that it showed through.
