STAMPlorations Inspiration #274

Hello, and welcome to a new STAMPlorations Inspiration post.  I've been playing with Distress Oxides and fadeout ink to create this 'painting' using my stamp set, Layered Vase.  I was inspired by this pin I saw on Pinterest.

Seize The Birthday - Watercolouring

Hello!  We've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday - Watercolouring!  I use watercoloring on most of my cards, but I don't use watercolour paints, I use Distress Inks as watercolours - love 'em!

I also love this gorgeous huge cupcake stamp by Colorado Craft Company, which is so easy to use and makes such a huge statement on a card.  Cupcake, anyone?

STAMPlorations Inspiration #272

It's Inspiration Tuesday at STAMPlorations, and today I've got a card for you that started off as an ATC (my latest craze).  Having made the ATC, I decided it would make a nice card, so I just mounted it onto a card blank.

All the elements were already in my stash.  I blended some Distress Ink on the stamped numbers panel, then coloured a stamped image from Deepti's Sweet Surprise.  The 'wish' was already layered and sitting in my stash so it was just a case of mounting everything onto a teal ATC (2.5 x 3.5 inches).  At that point I decided it would make a great card, so I just mounted it onto a card base.

Pop on over to the STAMPlorations blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the team and don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the store.  If you're shopping in the store, using my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY will get you 20% off most items.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #271

Hey, chickie!  It's Inspiration Tuesday on the STAMPlorations blog, and I'm in ATC mode.  I'm doing an ATC swap with teamie Sanna, so that got me back in the mode of making ATCs.

The great thing about making ATCs is that you can use up all sorts of scraps, and try different techniques on a small canvas, so it's not too scary.  And the bonus is that you've got the option of mounting the ATC onto a card if you choose.

For the moment, this one is still an ATC.  Next week's card started life as an ATC then upgraded to a card.

On cartridge paper I painted Distress Oxides then stencilled over using Rag Rug and Make Marks 2 stencils.  Then I stamped two checks from Fowl Play and paper-pieced from two in my stash.

Seize The Birthday - All About Summer

Hello, and welcome to another Seize The Birthday challenge.  Our challenge this time is All About Summer.  Or you can just play along with any birthday-themed project.

Ooh, look!  My colours match the logo!  This card was very nearly my contribution for the last challenge (Totally Tropical) because of the tropical colours and the cocktail.  I know you can drink cocktails any time (apart from maybe breakfast unless you're on holiday) but I always associate tropical with cocktails :)

I sponged the background with Distress Inks but it was quite mottled, so I made it even more so by spritzing with water, then I stamped the sentiments (MFT Uncorked) randomly over the card.  The cocktail glass is from Tim Holtz.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for more fabulous inspiration and join in with the fun!

STAMPlorations Inspiration #270

Hello!  It's Inspiration Tuesday at STAMPlorations, and I've got another cake card for you - they're quite addictive, calorie-free and very easy to create.

I picked up a smooshed mop-up from my stash then stamped the cake over the smooshing.  On my base card I swiped some colours with a broad brush along the fold side, then trimmed my panel to size and adhered it onto the card front.  I'll add a sentiment when I come to use the card - could be for a wedding, an anniversary or a birthday, who knows?  The image is from Deepti's set, Better Together.

Pop on over to the STAMPlorations blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the team, and don't forget to comment for your chance to win a gift certificate to the store.

When you're shopping at the store, you can get a 20% discount if you use my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY.

STAMPlorations Spring Fling Reminder

Are you playing along at the STAMPlorations Spring Fling Blog Hop and Linky Party?  Prizes to be won - you know what to do :)

Last week I showed you the Perched Bird using spritzed powders.  When you spritz through a stencil, the stencil itself is covered with spritzed powders.  So you pick it up carefully, turn it over and lay it on fresh card to get a lovely reverse effect.

And so you don't have to go searching for last week's card, here it is again so you can see the totally different results you get from the two parts of the process.

Pop on over to the STAMPlorations blog for more inspiration, and for details on how to play along.  Good luck!

STAMPlorations Inspiration #269

Hello!  It's Inspiration time at STAMPlorations, and today I've got a calorie-free cupcake for you :)
This was a really quick card to make.  I stamped the cupcake and sentiments from A Snarky Birthday To You, added a hint of watercolour, die-cut one edge using one of the Art Edges dies and adhered the panel to purple card.  That's it, simples!

Helloooo!  We've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday - my choice of Totally Tropical.
Or Anything Goes if you prefer.

What does tropical conjure up for you? Bright colours, fabulous holidays, exotic wildlife, fantastic cocktails?  I went exotic birdlife.  I made a background from the solid and line leaf stamps, and a border strip, and perched a toucan on the strip.  All stamps are from Uniko.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #268 - New Release

Bloomin Coffee and You
Sweet Kindness

We've got a new release of two coffee-themed stamps over at STAMPlorations today, Bloomin Coffee And You, and Sweet Kindness.  My first card uses the Bloomin Coffee And You set.

I stamped and cut out the flower from the tag, swished a load of Mustard Seed Distress Oxide across my card panel, and added some of those lovely sentiments from the set.

And here's my card using the Sweet Kindness set.

The background for this card was a happy accident.  I had stencilled some clear paste through a Pebble Weaves stencil, then when it was dry I sprinkled walnut stain coloured powders and spritzed.  A bit too heavily.  Lots of surplus colour.  So I mopped it all up with another piece of mixed media paper, and this is the result.  I love how it picked up a bit of the stencil pattern.  I coloured the image with matching colours, fussy cut and added a sentiment from the set.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #267

Hello, it's Inspiration Tuesday at STAMPlorations, and today I've got a mixed media card for you.  I started off by stencilling clear paste through the Tribal Triangles stencil, then once it was dry I sponged Distress Inks over. The inks didn't blend very smoothly on this particular card, and it had a mottled appearance, so I embraced that by spritzing all over with water and lifting more of the ink for a definite mottled look.

Using a variety of stamps from Mixed Media Grunge, Scribbly Splattery Grunge and Mixed Media Elements and the same ink colours, I stamped randomly over the panel.  Then for contrast, using Versafine Onyx Black I stamped Happy Birthday from Baa Baa, Mmmm from And Coffee and the circles from Art Marks 2.  My focal image is from Sketchy Coffee Cups.

Seize The Birthday - Monochromatic

Hello!  We've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday - Monochromatic.  Or anything goes if you'd rather, as long as it's a birthday theme.

For my card, I inked an embossing folder, spritzed and embossed.  Mounted that onto burgundy card then added a glass of wine, courtesy of Tim Holtz (cheers, Tim!) and a sentiment strip from Taylored Expressions.

Our surprise party guest is the lovely Dotty Jo.  Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog to see what Jo and the rest of the Design Team have created, and play along with us.

STAMPlorations Spring Fling Blog Hop and Linky Party

We're having a Spring Fling over at STAMPlorations with loads of chances to win prizes, and discounts in the Spring Fling section of the store.

Spring to me is birds.  We're lucky enough to be able to walk alongside the river every day with the dog.  We'll often see a buzzard, which we've nicknamed Leighton (UK peeps will get that), and if we're really lucky we'll see a kingfisher flying along the river or sitting on a branch.

The kingfisher (which works equally well as a kookaburra when you change the colours) is from Small Birds and the leaves are from Deepti's Leafy.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #265

Hello, it's Inspiration Tuesday at STAMPlorations and I've dug deep into the stash to find this beauty. Dunno why I never made it into a card at the time.  I think I may have inked the back of the Rosebuds stamp, spritzed it them stamped onto the mixed media paper, then once it was dry stamped the image over the top and added some white pen highlights.  To make it into a card I die cut the edge with an Art Edges die and mounted it onto burgundy card.

The glass stamp comes with two half-outline dies so that you can have a cutaway edge on the card, or you can use both dies to cut out a complete image.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #264

Hello!  It's Inspiration Tuesday at STAMPlorations, and today I've pulled out another piece from my stash.  I made this a good while ago using Scribbly Splattery Grunge and Mixed Media Grunge.  I wasn't sure what focal element to use, as I didn't want it to detract from the riot of colour, so in the end I opted for a simple sentiment from Skinny Sentiments.

Seize The Birthday - Spring Fling

Hello, we've got a new Seize The Birthday challenge for you - Spring Fling!  Or Anything Goes if you prefer.

At the time of writing this post, the UK has just started its 'stay at home' phase.  Who knows what the situation will be when this post goes live.

I've been holding on to this gorgeous bird for ages, but it's time to set it free.  I diecut it from a Gelli Plate print that I made using lace, and I love the detail of the pattern.  The sentiment is from Uniko, and the leaf canopy from Altenew.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #262

Hello, and welcome to Inspiration Tuesday at STAMPlorations.  Last week I showed you a card using a Coffee Cup Silhouette diecut as a mask, today I'm using the actual diecut as the focal point.  I always love it when I get two cards out of one process.  The sentiments are from And Coffee.

I stamped this party girl (Zinski Art Set 42) on spare card, coloured and cut her out, then adhered her to a gelli plate print that's been in my stash for ages.  The black stamped patterns are from Tim Holtz.

The prize for one lucky randomly selected player is from Woodware:

And if your entry is chosen by the design team, it'll be published on the blog, along with a profile, and you'll get the chance to guest design in a future challenge.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #261

Hello!  It's Inspiration Tuesday at STAMPlorations, and I've got another card for you using powders mixed with walnut stain.

I placed a diecut Coffee Cup Silhouette on white card, sprinkled the powders on, then spritzed with water and let it sit there for a few seconds till I was happy with the level of colour mingling.  Then I lifted off the diecut.  Stay tuned for next week's post and I'll show you what I did with it.

Sloshing Spotlight

I've been sloshing again.  One of my favourite techniques.  Pop on over to the STAMPlorations blog to see my spotlight post.

The images were coloured and fussy cut, then I applied a wash onto the card bases.

I deliberately used two of my least-favourite colours, but I've got to say, I like them here!
