The Bee's Knees - Layered Poppies

Hello!  Here's a look at my final stamp set, Layered Poppies.

For this first card I've stamped the large solid image in a peachy colour, then overstamped with the smaller solid image in orange, then overstamped with the line image in black.  The birthday sentiment is from Carved Flowers.

Originally I started a different card with a pink and red colour scheme, but then I smudged the black outline, and not wanting to waste it, I turned it into a mixed media piece by stamping text on some of the petals, scribbling Neocolours onto the background, then spraying a cardboard base with Distress Oxides, and adding some ribbon.

Seize The Birthday - Use Blue, Pink and Yellow

Hello!  Time for a new challenge at Seize The Birthday, and Barbara has chosen Blue, Pink and Yellow.

Or, if they're not your colours, you can always play along with our Anything Goes theme.

I've used a Tim Holtz floral spray, watercoloured with Distress Inks, and added a stamped and die-cut sentiment from The Stamp Market.

Pop on over to the Seize The birthday blog for more fabulous inspiration from the team and our Surprise Party Guest, Kathy, and play along with us.

The Bee's Knees - Layered Stars

Hi, I'm back today with a couple more cards featuring Layered Stars, one of my new sets with STAMPlorations.

For this first card I created a galaxy background with Distress inks and splattered water.  Once it was dry I stamped the large star and sentiment, then painted and splattered with Gansai Tambi starry colours.

For my second card, I stamped a border of stars down the left side of the card, then stamped solid stars and the sentiment on white card, trimmed to show the border.

Great for making quick and easy cards, like this thank you card, just using the solid shapes:

or this card for the fun guy in your life, just using the line images:

New Stamps!

Hellooo!  I'm so excited to let you know that I've got three new Bee's Knees stamp sets out with STAMPlorations - Layered Stars, Layered Poppies and Layered Mushrooms.

All three sets are designed as outline images with co-ordinating solid images, which intentionally do not match up - they're meant to give an artsy look and feel to your designs.

Layered Poppies

For this first card I used just the outline stamps, adding colour to the background to make them stand out.  I added a hint of pink to the petals.  The sentiment is from Party Time.

For my next card, I stamped the line images on white card in Versafine Onyx Black, (the leaves are from Layered Leaves) then stamped the block leaves in Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.  After I stamped the block petals I spritzed with water to let the colour run slightly.  I cut around the stamping and matted it onto green card.  The sentiment is from Bloom Happy.

This third card uses the cupped poppy image with both co-ordinating solid images.  The sentiment is from Skinny Sentiments.

Layered Mushrooms

You can see from the packaging illustration that as well as the solid images, there are additional spots and gills for you to use how you wish.  For this card I used the spots and gills, then watercoloured the images.

For my second card I stamped the outline mushrooms in black, then stamped the solid images in Distress Inks, spritzing with water here and there.  I fussy cut them all then clustered them onto my prepared background before matting it onto my card base.

And how about a new baby card?  These were stamped onto white card and coloured with Zig real brush pens before adding to a kraft card base.

Layered Stars

For this vibrant card I used Catherine Pooler inks with the two larger solid stamps and the trio cluster, then overstamped them in black with the outline stamps.  The sentiment is from Happy Birthday.

This second card uses the outline stars on a background made from PaperArtsy Infusions powders.

The large star is great for making a quick and easy bold CAS card - just stamp the solid star, overstamp with the outline star and add the word, and you're done!

***** GIVEAWAY! *****

If you fancy your chances at winning one of these sets, leave a comment here, and the STAMPlorations blog, today and over the next few days when some of my teamies will also be sharing their makes

And if you're buying, you can get 20% off these stamps by using my code STAMPGIRLSHIRLEY at checkout - why wouldn't you?

Hello!  We've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday - Use Vellum or Acetate Sheets, chosen by Ashwini.

If that's not your thing, you can still play along with our Anything Goes theme.

I used a sheet of patterned vellum that I found in my stash, and paired it with a Tim Holtz die cut flower.  The sentiment is from The Stamp Market.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for more fabulous inspiration from the design team, and from our guest designers, Kathy and Kerry, and add your card to the gallery!

Seize The Birthday - Sweet Treats

Hello!  It's my turn to host Seize The Birthday, and I've chosen Sweet Treats.

I chose this scrumptious gateau by AALL and Create, made my mouth water just colouring it :)
I've used Tim Holtz Distress Spritz on the background.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog to see what mouthwatering treats the design team and our Surprise Party Guests have cooked up, and play along with us.  If you don't want to follow my theme, you can still play along with our Anything Goes challenge.

Seize The Birthday - Feature An Animal

We've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday.  Nance is hosting, and she's asking us to Feature an Animal (must be the focal point).

These two come as a pair, The Odd Couple, from The Card Hut, so I had to feature both of them ;).  The stamps were disappointing, because the cover image was much finer than the actual stamps, but I still like the fun images.

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more animals from the design team and our surprise party guests.  If you don't want to feature animals, you can still play along with our Anything Goes theme.

Seize The Birthday - Make A Spring Garden

Hello!  Our latest challenge is up on the Seize The Birthday blog.  Linda is hosting, and she's challenging us to Make A Spring Garden.

I went a bit impressionist with this one, because I had a mop-up panel that was calling to me.

All I could see were flowers and leaves.  I used the Altenew Sketchy floral oversized stamp, and to be honest, it looked a complete mess, because there was no depth.  So I added shading around the flowers and leaves with coloured pencils, and kept going till I got more definition around the edges.

You can see where I used it in a similar way to make this card.  I do love it when I can make use of a mop-up panel!

Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog to see what sort of spring garden the rest of the design team and our Surprise Party Guests have created, and join in the fun.  You can always play along with our Anything Goes theme if you prefer.
