Visible Image - Teatime

Hello Visible Image fans!  I've got a tea-themed card for my DT post today.   I wanted to use the Afternoon Tea stamp set in a cafe or kitchen setting, and the Distressed Brick stencil was the perfect background.

I started by stencilling Rustic Wilderness Distress ink through the stencil.
Then I added Cosmic Shimmer clear texture paste straight over the top.  And managed to slice my thumb when I was cleaning the spatula - duh!
I left that to dry overnight, and stamped and coloured the images.
The inspiration for my colour scheme came from a jug that I painted in a pottery painting session many years ago - there's a photo at the end.  I cut a negative mask so that I could stamp the flowers onto the cups and teapots.

When it came to cutting them out, I wanted to remove the white space in the handles, and I have a nifty little trick to make the cutting out easier.  Cut down the outline between the top of the handle and the cup or teapot so that you can manoeuvre your scissors more easily, then you stick the handle back down on the reverse.  You can hardly see the join.
Some woodgrain washi tape from my extensive stash was ideal for industrial style shelving against my green subway tiles.  I stuck it onto strips of white card for stability, then used double sided tape to add it to the panel.
Then I added the pots and cups to the shelves, and a sentiment.
Et Voila!  My industrial style teatime card.
And here's the inspiration.
Pop on over to the Visible Image store to check out these fab stamps and stencil, and loads more!

  1. Great card! Ouch for your thumb - I managed to perform a little surgery on myself with my scalpel a few weeks ago. Love the green tiles and how your crocs match your jug! Delight and fun, Jo x
