Wall HeART

I picked up this slightly damaged heart-shaped wall hanging in the sale section a store.  It only cost me £1 and as I wanted to alter it anyway, it didn't matter to me that it was a bit scuffed.  I meant to take a photo of it before I altered it, but I was so eager to start on it that I forgot.  Basically it was just a plain cream-painted heart, probably made from MDF rather than wood, with another little heart stuck on at the centre.  The hanging ribbon was already attached.

There were a few steps involved:

1. Sand all edges.
2. Scuff surface with distress tool.
3. Remove dust.
4. Stamp images onto tissue paper and dry with heat gun.
5. Paste stamped tissue onto heart surface using diluted PVA glue.
6. Go to cinema while project is drying - we watched The Railway Man.
7. Sand surplus tissue off.
8. Apply Brushed Pewter Distress Paint and Picket Fence Distress Stain.
9. Sponge edges and centre heart with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.
10. Adhere silver chain around centre heart.
11. Add Prima flower.

Making Waves - A Twofer

I got some stencils from the new range by Memory Box and decided that this wave stencil would be ideal for the Runway Inspired Challenge.

I taped the stencil down to the front of the card, then masked off so that I could do the orange (Spiced Marmalade) sweep, then masked that while I sponged the rest of the card blue (Salty Ocean with a bit of Faded Jeans around the edges).  Die cut birthday (Memory Box) and stamped "wishes" (Woodware).

I'm also entering it into Simon Says Monday Challenge, Anything Goes.

I made another card with the same stencil, this time in pinks for the ombré and stamping challenge at Craft Stamper:

From the top: Tattered Rose, Victorian Velvet, Worn Lipstick, Fired Brick distress inks.

I'm adding it to the One Layer Simplicity Challenge but I think Susan might have palpitations at the lack of white space ;)

A Nod to Convention

This week's CASology cue word is Dot.  I've got black dots on the washi tape, and red dots on the splatter.  And I suppose you could count the sequins as dots.

The challenge at Keep It Simple is text - where the letters play a leading role in the card.  Yup, those letters are certainly getting the message across.

At Simon Says Monday Challenge, while they're all away at CHA, Anything Goes.

And my nod to convention is to pretty much stick to the sketch at STAMPlorations:

One Layer Thanks

Here comes another one layer card.  I feel like I'm stalking the new One Layer Simplicity Challenge, but I do like making one layer cards.  But I don't think I'll be the record-holder, because I've just checked and see that quite a few of you are making multiple entries too.  Just shows what a great challenge it is, and how much interest the revamped version is generating - 100 entries and counting!

For this one I inked up an acrylic block with Distress Inks then spritzed it before stamping the block straight onto the card.  Once it was dry, I stamped the feathers and sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black.

I've used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch, fairly literally:

Fabric Fusion

I saw some packs of canvas shapes for sale in my local craft store, and decided that I could make my own for a tenth of the price, so off I trotted back home and scoured the internet for cotton canvas by the metre.  Said canvas has arrived, and I've made some shapes.  And I have a lot of canvas left :)

So I thought I'd stamp on a piece, because the challenge at Waltzingmouse Fanatics is to use fabric (as well as Waltzingmouse stamps).

And I liked the inspiration photo in the latest FUSION challenge, specifically the cushions:

BTW:  What is WRONG with Blogger?  Errors on saving, errors previewing.  It's almost like you have to wait till it's not looking before you can complete your post.  Talk about having a hissy fit.

A Card in Need...

It's an unfortunate fact of life that we always need sympathy cards, and it's better to have a supply in your stash than have to make one in a hurry.

For this card, I've used the colours from Dynamic Duos:
