CUTplorations January Challenge

Welcome to our first STAMPlorations CUTplorations challenge for 2017!

We've got a suitably celebratory graphic to inspire you.  An obvious interpretation is around the black/gold colour scheme and the new year/celebration theme, but I went a bit off-piste.

Well, I kept the black/gold colour scheme, and the dotty background, and the script font.  I stencilled the Perched Bird with Cosmic Shimmer Gold Pearl texture paste on black card, and let the spatula kiss the wet paste to add texture.  Once the paste dried, I added some gilding flakes to some of the textured lines.

Because the paste was quite thick in the centre, the card dried warped, so I trimmed the stencilled image and mounted it onto another sheet of black card, that I'd flicked Gansai Tambi paint over.  Added the diecut word and then mounted the piece onto gold card.  I had to remove the glass from the frame because I couldn't get a photo without a reflection showing!

When I was cleaning up the stencil I had a happy accident, which you'll see in a couple of weeks ;)  In the meantime, pop on over to the CUTplorations post for some more fabulous inspiration.

If you want to play along for a chance to win a prize, create a project that is inspired by the graphic and includes die-cut/s, and link it up to the challenge.  Don't forget to include the graphic and link back to the CUTplorations post to be eligible for a prize.
