Happy Retirement

I've dug out some really old stamps for this card.  The image is part of a stamp by Annette Allen Watkins, and the sentiment is a PSX stamp, but they are my go-to stamps for retirements.  I made the potting shed wall by scoring card and swooshing it with Old Paper and Black Soot Distress Inks, and stamped the sentiment over the planks afterwards.  I'm entering it into the following challenges:

The Male Room - a retirement card

Less Is More - something made from metal - I've used a brad and some wire.
Shopping our Stash - heavy metal (anything metallic)

And CASology - Paint.  "Where's the paint?",  I hear you ask.  On the potting shed wall, waiting for a new coat.

And the picture isn't straight on the wall because, well, it's a fella's shed ;)

  1. Beautiful card, the background looks like wood boards that you would find in a garden. I've tried many times to join your blog and it's just not working. I've had this happen at one other site. I can see my icon with the options but not as a follower. I don't know what is wrong, but I've added you to my blog list so I don't miss your updates. Cheers, Shirleyx

  4. Shirely...you've gone and done it again!

Another amazing creation gracing your blog that has once again left me in awe of your talent! Have you taken art classes? Better yet....have you thought about teaching art classes (or on-line card classes). I would be the first one signing up!

Love your technique creating the weathered 'boards' and the oh-so-perfect stamp. This is my exact perception of retirement!

  6. Love the Potting Shed boards. They really look real. The framed potted plants and garden tools hung on the wall are perfect. Wish I had gotten this card when I retired. Smile.

  9. Hi Shirley, Surfing in from Darnell's (she sends me to the bestest blogs!) and I am really enjoying this pretty garden shed. Love that background, and I'm a particular lover of PSX stamps. They are always so elegant (and I got into stamping AFTER the company went out of business, dang it). You did a fantastic job with the painted wall, and love your little artistic picture decorating the wall, and the way it hung a bit off-kilter! Exactly the way it should look for a shed. Off to enjoy some more of your work, just joined as your newest follower, and hope you'll find time to visit me when you can. TFS

  27. Very nice card, I'm impressed that you made the "wood" like that, I thought it was patterned paper! I think it looks better with the sign a little crooked. Very well put together card. Nice job. :)
