CASEplorations with Shalu

Look at this fabby card we've got for you for the August CASEplorations challenge!  Its creator is Shalu of All By Heart Creations, and you can find her original post here.

There's plenty to go at here: those big bold stripes, colourful central image, bling, sentiment panel, shiny vertical strip.

What did I do?  Well, for starters I loved those broad stripes, so they were definitely in.  And the hit of orange.  And the sentiment panel.  Here's what happened:

The stripes were made by swooshing Chipped Sapphire Distress Paint across a card panel.  The bird of paradise (from my new set called, er, Birds of Paradise which you'll be seeing more of next week.  And it has coordinating dies.) was watercoloured with a mix of Distress Inks.

Looks like this guy is trying his best to get airborne again!

Pop on over to the CASEplorations post for some more fabulous inspiration from the team, and join in for a chance to win.

  2. Tee hee, Shirley ... that energetic bird of paradise is just fabulous ... and so fun! Just enjoyed a lovely meander around all your recent splattering, sloshing and sploshing ... it's always a delight to see! Saw you enjoying the 'Royal Visit' ... what fun that must've been! Hugs, Anita :)

  3. My dear Shirley! I have NOT been ignoring your gallery; indeed, I have left comments on pretty much all your amazing cards, but a stroll back shows they haven't been sticking! Between blogger's shenanigans and our internet malfunctions, I'm about ready to pull out my hair (or drink several glasses of the wines you showcased on your Take It Make It reminder post)! The plus side of checking on my comment status is seeing your fabulous creativity for a second go-round! Your dragonfly card captivated me for several minutes yet again! So much inspiration and ingenuity that you've wiped away my weather-induced feeling of gloom (yet again a thunderstorm warning day!) and replaced it with mega-watt smiling. Your interpretation of Shalu's card: brilliant! That is one energized bird of paradise! Perhaps he could share some of his exuberance with me *grin* Love this!
Hugs~c (hopefully this internet/blogger fiasco will right itself soon!)
