It's stating the obvious, but I Love Stamps. And stamping. And one layer cards. And challenges. So when Simon Says Monday Challenge came up with "We Love Stamps" for this week's theme, I'm straight in there!
I've used the colour scheme from City Crafter of black/grey/white with a splash - red for me.
It's a one layer challenge at Less is More:
At the Penny Black Saturday Challenge, it's all about making a valentine or other card for someone special:
And on the Penny Black blog, the Website Wonder challenge is to use anything from the new Happy Everything release.
I've used the Bashful die, but I've used it as a stencil, so I hope that counts! I sponged Black Soot and Barn Door through the stencil for the main image, then repositioned it and sponged lightly, getting a light grey colour with just a hint of the red around the flower. Unfortunately I also managed to get some red on the underside of the masking tape which transferred onto the card as I repositioned the stencil. So I just repeatedly stuck the masking tape down on the card, transferring more red smudges. I added the sentiment in black, but decided it needed a bit more black, so I used the edge of an old credit card to stamp some random black lines on the card.
I'm getting way behind with blog visits, so I'm hoping to catch up with everyone tonight or tomorrow!

HEY! Don't forget OLS repeat! Love the bold red on this and the fun font!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous one layer card !!
ReplyDeleteOkay, this may take a minute... First, I was on the Penny Black blog and in a small corner marked "gallery" I saw a very small picture that really piqued my interest. I clicked on the picture (I could tell it was a striking flower card) and it took me to Flicker. I find that site very difficult to figure out and although it showed a wonderful picture of the card, I wanted more info. Anyway, after a while I figured out how to get to you and HOORAY, I'm here! I LOVE THIS CARD SO SO MUCH! Simple, but very dramatic. Elegant, but cozy. Quie,t but makes a very loud statement. Then I looked at the last few posts and wow, I am so glad I was able to figure out how to get to your blog. You are now bookmarked and each evening when I sit down to go to my favorites, I'll be able to enjoy your work as well. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I'm not the only one who plays in so many challenges and lays them out this way, Shirley! Your OLC is everything a lovely and CAS OLC should be! I love it!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to incorporate your card into so many challenges! I love how you stamped your flowers...the soft, dreamy blooms are fab with the bright pink one! I love the itty bitty dragonflies, too...so clever! Lovely OLC card, Shirley!
ReplyDeleteSo so pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know Shirley, I was thinking the other day that you have developed your own 'style' - I think I would recognise your cards now, without being told! I love this very, very much! You have created so much depth - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great Shirley, although it looks as though you've gone one over our limit of challenges which may be combined!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much
Chrissie
